The Horizon of Good Health for the New Millennium

QUESTIONS MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED:
Can I start a program without leaving my hometown?
Yes! Go to the Out
of Towners page and START the process today.
1. What is the Anti-Aging Institute all
about?
The LV Institute of Preventive Medicine, Inc. is helping men and women regain
the vitality and vigor of their younger years and maintain their healthier
lives longer. Through the synergy of hormone management, optimal nutrition, and
exercise, patients are seeing remarkable improvements in skin tone, increased
mental acuity and focus, strengthened immune systems, increased lean muscle
mass, decreased fat, and revitalized sex drive and performance.
2. What is Hormone Management? How does it work?
Hormone management is optimizing, through supplementation, the hormones that
are no longer being adequately produced by the body. People are genetically
programmed to reproduce and then begin to shut down. The goal of hormone
management is to return our hormone levels to that of approximately 30 years of
age. That is the age when our immune systems are generally the strongest, our
metabolism is efficient, and we build muscle rather than fat. Furthermore, at
the age of 30, we respond to exercise more effectively than when we are older.
Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is thought to be the body's master hormone. Around
the age of 30, the pituitary secretes decreasing amounts of HGH; in fact, 13%
decrease in the amount of HGH is secreted each decade after the age of 30. As
the master hormone decreases, the other hormones do not get the message to
function and the symptoms of aging begin to surface. If Human Growth Hormone,
as the keystone, is returned to its optimal level, and all the other hormones
are brought back to their balanced state, the body is able to regain its
vitality. Because hormone optimization therapy returns the body to its younger
efficiency, with the addition of optimal nutrition and exercise, we are then
able to live healthier lives longer.
3. How long do I have to be on these therapies?
You should give your program at least six months to see significant benefits.
Your body needs that much time to heal and rebuild. You should stay on the
program for as long as you continue to want to optimize your health.
4. How long before you can actually see results?
While this varies with each individual, some people feel results within
days. You can expect to begin to feel results within one to two months after
beginning hormone management.
5. What will happen if I stop the program?
From whatever biological age you have attained on the program, should you stop
the program, the body will begin to age at a normal rate.
6. At what age should a person start such a program?
Proper nutrition, including supplements, is recommended at every age. A person
does not need to begin hormone replacement therapy until such time as the body
begins to lower its hormone production, usually in the mid thirties, but
sometimes sooner.
7. Will treatment interfere with my currently prescribed medications?
Generally not. In some instances medications may actually be reduced in level
or no longer needed altogether. Your regular physician will be able to advise
you.
8. Will the Institute be taking over as my doctor?
Absolutely not. As a wellness program, the Institute is happy to communicate
with your primary physician, and/or any specialists you may be seeing. We
encourage you to continue your usual visits with your regular doctor.
9. Why does HGH have to be injected?
Human Growth Hormone and insulin are very similar molecules made up of poly
peptides. Like insulin, HGH breaks down if taken orally; so the only effective
way to obtain the benefits of HGH, at this time, is by injection.
10. Is this type of program FDA approved?
HGH was approved by the FDA for treatment of hormone deficient adults in the
summer of 1996.
11. Do growth hormone secretagogues work? What about secretagogues sold over
the Internet and advertised in magazines & newspapers?
GH secretagogues stimulate release of GH by the pituitary. GHRH is commercially
available as an FDA drug (Geref). It is given subcutaneous injection and is
less effective and more expensive than recombinant GH injections. There is data
in the medical literature that 20 grams of L-argenine given intravenously
produces a burst of GH release. There is no data however that oral amino acids
increase GH release in any significant amount and have no clinical usefulness.
Homeopathic sprays that claim to contain GH do not contain any clinically
significant amount and have no clinical usefulness. Over the counter products
that claim to contain GH or increase GH release have never been documented to
increase GH or IGF-1 levels in any peer reviewed medical publication.
12. Isn't it unnatural to inject or ingest hormones?
HGH is synthetically produced through the recombinant DNA process. Because of
this production method, it is identical to the Human Growth Hormone naturally
produced by the body. When injected, HGH is spread to its target organs just as
it would be if secreted by the pituitary gland.
13. Do I increase my risk of cancer by taking growth hormone?
No. There is no reason to believe that natural doses of HGH pose any risk of
cancer. Throughout all the research there has been no correlation between HGH
and cancer. On the contrary, HGH has proven to be extremely helpful in
strengthening the immune system, increasing mental acuity and focus, and
preventing the onset of diseases usually associated with aging.
14. What are the side effects of growth hormone?
When given in proper natural doses, there are no side effects. In early
studies, done prior to research determining proper dosage, there were three
rare side effects: swollen ankles, joint pains, and, rarest of all, carpal
tunnel syndrome. When dosage was reduced, all symptoms disappear.
15. Does my health insurance cover this service?
At this time, most insurance programs do not reimburse for wellness programs.
Much of the program is usually tax deductible.
16. When I'm on the Program, how often do I come to the Institute?
We recommend visits in 8 weeks, 16 weeks, 26 weeks, and then every 26 weeks.
